With this in mind, “Barbot” works daily and committed to provide its customers and users of its services with a reinforced commitment to safeguarding the privacy of personal data.
Thus, and through this “privacy policy”, “Barbot” intends to describe how it processes the personal data of its customers and users of its services; It also wishes to inform the holders of such personal data about the rights they enjoy.
That said, and in compliance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter R.G.P.D.), we inform you that the personal data collected will be processed and stored by “Barbot – Indústria de Tintas, S.A.”, legal person number 500 527 520, with registered office at Rua de Borneiros, n.º 466, 4410-295 Canelas (Vila Nova de Gaia), also known as “Barbot”. That company is therefore the controller of those personal data.

The data classified as personal within the scope of the R.G.P.D., are collected and processed by “Barbot” for the following purposes:
- Customer management: “Barbot” is dedicated to the manufacture and marketing of paints, varnishes and painting accessories, to the sale, rental and provision of equipment and technology, to the provision of services and training. The processing of personal data is therefore necessary for the fulfilment of the contracts to be entered into between you and “Barbot” or for the performance of pre-contractual steps at your request.
Your data will be kept for this purpose as long as the basis for which it was collected remains and/or up to 2 years of inactivity after the conclusion of the last contract.
- Marketing: “Barbot” may process your data to send you information about its products and services.
This data processing will only be carried out with your consent, provided at the time of subscription to the newsletter through the form. If you consent, you will receive marketing communications via email. “Barbot” may also share your data with third parties that manage social networks (such as Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram, etc…), for the purpose of carrying out marketing campaigns through these same social networks.
Consent to the processing of personal data for direct marketing purposes may be revoked at any time and by the means that are best described below.

- Profiling: “Barbot” may carry out profiling based on information related to your purchases. The information collected will be analyzed to identify your consumption profile and with this analysis, “Barbot” will be able to send you personalized information that is appropriate to your profile.

- Video surveillance of our stores: Some “Barbot” stores may be equipped with a video surveillance system, duly signposted.
The image recordings obtained by the video surveillance systems are kept, in an encrypted record, for a period of 30 days from their capture, after which they are destroyed (without prejudice to the retention for a longer period in case of pending legal proceedings);
- Hobby management: “Barbot” promotes the realization of hobbies. In these cases, the processing of personal data is carried out for the purpose of allowing the management of the client’s participation, that is, the execution of the contract entered into between you and “Barbot” (whose rules are contained in the regulations applicable to each competition).
Your data will only be kept for this purpose for the period necessary for the management of the competition.
- After-sales follow-up: During the legal warranty period imposed by Portuguese and European legislation, “Barbot” will carry out the competent after-sales follow-up of the products manufactured and marketed by it; that is, it will carry out all kinds of activities necessary to ensure the correct functionality of its products and/or guarantee the effective quality in the provision of its services.
Your data will be kept for up to 5 years of inactivity after the conclusion of the last contract.
- Recruitment: whenever necessary for the pursuit of its activity, “Barbot” will promote the recruitment of personnel. In this context, the collection of personal data is carried out as a pre-contractual diligence and the processing is necessary for the defense of the legitimate interests of the holder himself and of “Barbot” (data controller).
The data collected are therefore intended to be used to assess whether candidates are suitable for the post advertised and for the preliminary calculation of the remuneration, bonuses and perks of candidates who are admitted to recruitment.
The personal data collected will be used as long as there is a need to keep them for the purpose for which they are collected or to comply with legal obligations.
Given the purposes for which personal data is collected and as already mentioned, it is important to note that your personal information may have to be disclosed to subcontractors, namely:
– within the “Barbot” Business Group;
– to entities operating freight transport services/products of the “Barbot” group.
– to third-party service providers, since, in some circumstances, “Barbot” may have to subcontract other companies to process personal data (in particular for website hosting, email, answering user questions about the services, sending information about new services and products, special offers). In these cases, the personal data provided is reduced to those that are vital for the provision of the service in question.
In any case, your data will always be processed within the European Union and with respect for the applicable legislation and by entities that offer “Barbot” guarantees of compliance with the applicable legislation.
Considering that we intend to ensure a lawful, fair and transparent processing of your personal data and with the strictest respect for compliance with the legislation in force, we also inform you that at any time, you can request from us:
- oaccess to the information we hold about you; this is because the holder of the personal data has the right to obtain from “Barbot” confirmation that their data is (or is not) being processed. If you want more than a copy of your personal data being processed, “Barbot” may subject this service to the payment of a fee for administrative costs.
- the rectification of the information (if it is incorrect or incomplete);
- the erasure or restriction of the processing of your personal data. The holder of the personal data has the right to ask “Barbot” to delete their data without undue delay and Barbot has the obligation to delete them when: the personal data is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or processed; the data subject has withdrawn his/her consent to the processing of data (in cases where the processing is based on consent) and there is no other ground for such processing; or the data subject objects to the processing and there are no overriding legitimate interests justifying the processing;
- the limitation of processing: the data subject has the right to obtain from “Barbot” the limitation of processing, if and when: a) contest the accuracy of the data; b) the data processing is lawful and the data subject opposes the deletion of his or her personal data, requesting, on the other hand, the limitation of its use; c) “Barbot” no longer needs the personal data for processing purposes, but the holder requires them for the purposes of declaring, exercising or defending a right in legal proceedings; d) you have objected to the processing, until it is verified that the legitimate reasons of the controller prevail over those of the data subject.
- data portability: if the processing depends on the consent of the data subject and if this same consent has been given by automated means, then the data subject has the right to receive in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format the personal data concerning him or her that has been provided to “Barbot”.
- that we recognize your right to object to the processing of data: In cases where the processing of data is carried out for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by “Barbot”, for direct marketing purposes or for profiling, the data subject may, at any time, object to the processing of their personal data.
All your requests will be processed quickly and in a manner that we can ensure the effectiveness of your rights. Thus, and in order to ensure that the sharing of personal data is only done with the data subject, “Barbot” may ask you to provide proof of your identity.
Please note, however, that in certain cases (e.g. due to legal requirements) your request may not be immediately satisfied; however, it shall be informed of the measures taken to that effect within a maximum period of one month from the time the request is made.
In situations where consent is legally required for the processing of personal data, the data subject also has the right to withdraw such consent at any time, although this right does not compromise the lawfulness of the processing carried out, nor the subsequent processing of such data based on a legal requirement.
“Barbot” makes its best efforts to protect customers’ personal data against unauthorized access. However, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure and ensure that the device they are using is adequately protected, for example, against harmful software and computer viruses. In addition, whenever data collection is carried out on open networks such as the internet, the data may circulate without security conditions, with the risk of being seen and used by unauthorized third parties. The customer is prevented from providing third parties with the data that allows them to access their information with “Barbot”.
Customers are guaranteed the right to access, update and rectify their personal data, as well as the right to cancel and oppose the processing of the same, subject to the requirements and under the terms provided for by law, by written request addressed to “Barbot”, sent with proof of receipt, to us by letter, telephone or e-mail address rgpd@barbot.pt.
Finally, it should be added that, if you feel legitimized to do so, you can file a complaint with the National Data Protection Commission regarding the conduct developed by “Barbot” in the collection, processing and storage of your personal data.
Changes: “Barbot” reserves the right, at any time and with immediate effect, to make changes to this privacy policy, so we ask you to occasionally consult this document to stay up to date.
