Barbot Group invests in a new factory in Rio Maior
The Barbot Group is preparing the installation of a new industrial unit in Rio Maior, intended for the production of powder coatings. The investment is around 2.5 million euros and completion is scheduled for the second quarter of this year.
The new plant will reinforce the production capacity of Diera, a company acquired by the group in 2019, in the segment of coatings for civil construction. According to the president of Tintas Barbot, Carlos Barbot, quoted by ECO, the unit will have an annual capacity of 30 tons and will be fully automated.
With 1,500 square meters and a 20-meter-high tower, this will be Diera’s third unit in Portugal, joining the factories in Leça da Palmeira and Santo Tirso. The Leça da Palmeira factory is already operating at the limit of its capacity, justifying the reinforcement with this new infrastructure.
Carlos Barbot also highlighted the good performance of Diera, which in 2020 recorded an 18% growth in turnover compared to the previous year. Despite the high level of automation, five new hires are planned for areas such as production, warehouse and commercial.
Currently, Diera employs 40 people and had a turnover of 7 million euros in 2020. For 2021, the goal was to reach 9 million. With the new unit in operation, an additional growth of 3 million euros in turnover is estimated.
