Walls with humidity in which blistering is visible.

Paint blistering is the formation of water bubbles under the film applied to the walls of the house. Blistering can occur on exterior walls, as a result of water vapor passing from the inside to the outside of the house.

The causes of blistering are:

  • application of paints on damp surfaces (when passing through the surface, water exerts pressure on the paint, peeling it off).
  • Applying a second coat of paint over a poorly dried first coat.
  • degradation of joints, which no longer insulate moisture.
  • plumbing cracks.

The first step to recover walls with moisture in which blistering occurs is to repair the origin. It could be a crack in the exterior wall or in the plumbing. After repairing the origin, the blistered paint must be completely removed.

When the surface is completely dry, a suitable paint scheme should be applied. We recommend Barbolite Primer before applying the finishing paint.
